The Sacred Valley is located between the Incas capital of Cusco and the citadel known as Machu Picchu. The Sacred Valley of The Inca is a beautiful place that to this day remains as one of the most important destinations in this region of the Andes.
As we travel through the Sacred Valley we will find Inca ruins like Ollantaytambo, the salt mines where pink salt is obtained, and local markets where the natives come once a week to sell and trade products.
The Sacred Valley, more specifically the town of Ollantaytambo, is also where we board the train to reach the Inca citadel in time for the Machu Picchu Hike.
Over the course of the Sacred Valley tour we will go through the Pisac Market, Chinchero, Maras and Moray, and Ollantaytambo.
The Sacred Valley is a perfect place to go horseback riding, white water rafting, zip-lining, and ride ATVs. The landscape is actually perfect for all of these activities.
The Sacred Valley is a family-friendly destination where you can all visit the Pisac Market, where local merchants bring their products to trade and sell.
There are many places to stay at from the luxury-oriented 5 star Tambo del Inka to more affordable hostels. Most properties in the area will have amazing views of the valley.
The best time of the year to visit the Sacred Valley is during the dry season that extends between April and August of each year.
